ENChin liposuction in Germany is a small operation next to liposuction of the abdomen or thighs, and its price is on a different scale: there is no single figure, and the clinic quotes the sum in writing after an examination. A double chin upsets people whatever their weight: slim people have one too, and dieting will not shift it, because the cause is often the inherited shape of the neck, not extra kilos.

What is actually done and who it suits
Through two or three small punctures under the chin and behind the ears, the surgeon removes the fat under the skin of the submental area so that the angle between neck and jawline shows. It is usually done under local anaesthesia with sedation, a light medication-induced sleep, less often under general anaesthesia, normally as a day case.
What decides the result is what your “double chin” is made of: fat, lax skin, prominent neck muscle bands, or the shape of the jaw and the bite. Liposuction helps with fat; with lax skin the effect is poorer, as the skin will not tighten over the volume removed. So the examination matters more than the price list.

The cost of chin liposuction in Germany is made up of several lines in the estimate, and because the treated area is single and small, the bill is usually lower than for liposuction of the trunk. The estimate lists:

What is used instead of chin liposuction
For some patients, injection lipolysis is discussed instead of surgery: an agent that destroys fat cells is injected into the fat under the chin over a course of several sessions, and in Germany a deoxycholic acid product is authorised for this. These are injections, not an operation, and the same effect as surgery cannot be promised from them.
Where the skin is lax and the muscle bands stand out, the question is no longer liposuction but a neck lift – a different operation, a different anaesthetic and a different price. Recovery, and what the price covers afterwards
The first days bring swelling and bruising, a compression strap worn as the clinic instructs, and limits on exertion. People usually return to work without public meetings within one to two weeks, while the final shape takes months to settle. This is a guide, not a guarantee: the clinic gives the periods for each patient.
The written estimate has to include the check-ups after the operation, suture removal, a second compression strap and the terms for a correction. Insurers do not pay for an aesthetic procedure.
