Couples rarely come to the question of fertility treatment abroad straight away: by then there have usually been several attempts, several rounds of tests and several different opinions. In that situation what counts is not a loud reputation but a calm, systematic approach — first working out what the cause actually is, and only then proposing a method. The centre’s profile
The Kinderwunsch Centrum München (fertility centre) is one of the oldest reproductive medicine centres in Munich and in Germany, associated with the Krüsmann family; among its leading doctors today are Professor Wolfgang Würfel and Dr Jan Krüsmann. The centre has more than 35 years of experience in in vitro fertilisation, and a number of methods that are standard today were used here among the first in the country.
Its field is the whole path through disorders of fertility: assessment of hormone levels and the menstrual cycle, insemination, IVF and ICSI, and the freezing of eggs, sperm and embryos. Neighbouring services work alongside — gynaecology, reproductive genetics, prenatal medicine and psychosomatic support — because the subject almost always reaches beyond medicine.
Equipment and particulars
The centre has its own embryology laboratory — for a fertility clinic that is in effect the heart of the whole process: fertilisation and the culture of embryos happen there, and a great deal depends on the conditions in that laboratory. Consultations are held at the medical centre (MVZ) on Lortzingstraße; there is also a private practice in central Munich on Sendlinger Straße. Which procedures are available and permissible is set by the German Embryo Protection Act, which is noticeably stricter than the law in a number of other countries — worth knowing in advance.
