Клиника лучевой терапии, Мюнхен-Пазинг

The radiotherapy clinic in Munich’s Pasing district (Strahlentherapie München-Pasing) is a specialist centre that does nothing but radiation treatment. Patients usually arrive with a diagnosis already made and a plan from their oncologists, to go through the radiotherapy part of the treatment. Most sessions are outpatient and last a few minutes.

What kind of centre it is

It is an outpatient radiotherapy centre, certified as an oncology unit. It treats malignant tumours above all, but radiotherapy is also used for some benign conditions — chronic orthopaedic pain, thyroid eye disease, Dupuytren’s contracture. The work is done by a team of radiation oncologists and medical physicists.

How the treatment works

Modern radiotherapy is not a matter of “irradiating an area” but of delivering the dose to the tumour as precisely as possible while sparing the healthy tissue around it. For that the centre uses intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), where the position of the tumour is checked immediately before the session, and stereotactic radiotherapy — high-precision treatment of small targets. The plan is calculated from a CT scan individually for each patient.

Equipment

The centre has modern Varian linear accelerators, including TrueBeam and Halcyon systems. These are latest-generation machines that allow treatment under built-in imaging control and shorten the session. Planning and quality control are handled by medical physicists.

How we work with this centre

We help forward the medical data and the oncologists’ reports for assessment, agree when radiotherapy can start, and arrange accommodation for the course of treatment, interpreting and support. Settlement is directly with the centre against its invoices.
