Helios Klinikum München West is a general hospital in Munich’s Pasing district. It used to be known as the Munich-Pasing hospital; today it belongs to the Helios group and is a teaching hospital of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. It is a large district centre with around 412 beds, covering most everyday fields and many complex ones.
What it specialises in
The hospital has some twenty departments and specialist units. Among its strong areas are cardiology with a certified Chest Pain Unit, orthopaedics, trauma and sports orthopaedics (a certified regional trauma centre), and gynaecology and obstetrics with a certified breast cancer centre.
Haematology and oncology are well developed here, as are pulmonology (the “München West” lung centre), ENT with head and neck surgery, and neurology with a certified stroke unit. That combination makes it possible to take a patient from diagnosis through to treatment in one place.
Equipment
The hospital has a hybrid operating theatre, computed and magnetic resonance tomography (CT and MRI), a cardiac catheterisation laboratory and a modern radiology department. The certified centres — for stroke, chest pain, breast cancer and trauma — are not an advertising phrase but an outside check that the unit works to established standards.
