Schön Klinik München Harlaching

Schön Klinik München Harlaching

Schön Klinik München Harlaching is a specialist orthopaedic hospital in the south of Munich. Its history goes back to 1913, and since 1997 it has belonged to the Schön Klinik group. The hospital is known above all for treating the musculoskeletal system and is recognised as one of the few FIFA Medical Centres of Excellence in the world; it also works with a number of sports federations.

What it specialises in

Its main fields are spinal surgery, sports orthopaedics and trauma, joint replacement (hip, knee and other joints), hand surgery, rheumatology and paediatric orthopaedics. The spine centre (Wirbelsäulenzentrum) stands out in particular — one of the best-known units of its kind in Germany.

Importantly, the hospital does not only offer operations. For many back and joint problems conservative treatment comes first — exercise therapy, physiotherapy, pain relief — and surgery follows only when it is genuinely needed.

What sets it apart

The hospital favours gentle techniques: minimally invasive and arthroscopic operations, and computer navigation systems that help the surgeon place a prosthesis or work on the spine more precisely. Specialists from different fields — orthopaedic surgeons, rheumatologists, physiotherapists — work as one team, which matters especially in difficult cases where the cause of the pain is not obvious.

How we work with this hospital

An AlenMed coordinator stays with the patient from the first enquiry: helping to collect and translate documents — X-rays, MRI scans, discharge letters — sending them to the hospital and agreeing the preliminary assessment and cost estimate directly with it. An interpreter is present at appointments. Payment goes directly to the hospital.

This material is for information only and does not replace a consultation with a doctor. Whether treatment is possible, what it will involve and what it will achieve can be determined only after an examination at the clinic in person.
