Prof. Dr med. Michael Braun (Prof. Dr. med. Michael Braun) is Chief Physician of Gynaecology, head of the interdisciplinary breast centre and deputy head of the oncology centre at Red Cross Clinic Munich. Women consult him with a suspicion of breast cancer and with a confirmed diagnosis, when the question is how to operate and what should follow.
Where the doctor practises and what they do
Prof. Braun has headed gynaecology at the women’s clinic in Munich since November 2016, specialising in gynaecological oncology and complex gynaecological surgery. Since 2012 he has led the interdisciplinary breast centre, certified by the German Cancer Society (DKG): the plan for each patient is agreed by a board of surgeon, oncologist, radiotherapist and pathologist, not one doctor.
The core of his work is the surgical and drug treatment of breast cancer: removing the tumour while preserving the breast where possible, lymph node surgery, and the choice of chemotherapy and anti-hormonal therapy. He also operates on other tumours of the female organs and takes on difficult cases in gynaecology. Since August 2016 he has co-directed a practice for senology and gynaecological oncology at the Taxisstrasse breast centre.
What they are known for
Michael Braun studied medicine in Regensburg and at the Technical University of Munich, qualified as a specialist in gynaecology and obstetrics in 2003, and in 2010 received the venia legendi of the University of Bonn for his habilitation on breast cancer. From 2004 to 2010 he headed the breast centre at the University Women’s Clinic in Bonn. The German Cancer Society has certified him as a senior breast surgeon, and he holds the ultrasound certificate for the breast and female genital organs. He sits on the medical advisory board of Brustkrebs Deutschland and on the Munich Tumour Centre’s breast cancer group, belongs to DGGG, DGS, AGO, DEGUM, DKG and ASCO, and has published on breast cancer trials.
How we arrange an appointment
AlenMed arranges consultations and treatment with Prof. Braun for patients from abroad. You send us a request, we translate your records, biopsy results and images into German, agree a date at Red Cross Clinic Munich and provide a medical interpreter for the consultation and the ward. We help with the visa, transfer and accommodation. Diagnostics and treatment are paid directly to the clinic at its own official rates.
This material is for reference only and does not replace a consultation with a doctor. Whether treatment is possible, and what it can achieve, is determined after an in-person examination.
