Where the doctor practises and what they do
Since January 2010, Dr Thies Daniels has served as Head Physician of General, Visceral and Surgical Oncology at Albertinen Hospital in Hamburg. His primary clinical focus lies in open, laparoscopic (keyhole), and robot-assisted surgical techniques. He performs operations on the pancreas, liver, adrenal glands, stomach, and oesophagus, as well as complex procedures in surgical oncology and hernia repair. Patients requiring specialised treatment for intestinal diseases or proctology care receive comprehensive surgical management, including minimally invasive laparoscopic colon surgery, thyroid procedures, and interventions on the bile ducts.
What they are known for
Dr Thies Daniels studied human medicine in Hamburg from 1980 to 1986, receiving his medical licence in 1986 and completing his doctorate at RWTH Aachen in 1990. He qualified as a specialist in general surgery in 1996 and obtained additional designations in visceral surgery and specialised visceral surgery in 1998. Having served as a senior physician at Asklepios hospitals in Eilbek and Altona, he led general and visceral surgery departments prior to his current position. He achieved OnkoZert certification for a bowel cancer centre (Darmzentrum) in 2008 and certification for a surgical coloproctology competence centre in 2015. He also serves as an examiner for the Hamburg Medical Association (Ärztekammer Hamburg) and holds extensive training authority in surgery.
