Where the doctor practises and what they do
Since January 2023, Prof. Dr med. Till Orla Klatte has served as Chief Physician of Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery at Albertinen Hospital in Hamburg. Prior to taking up this leadership position, he worked for many years at the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), where he led the shoulder surgery division starting in 2021.
In his clinical practice, Dr Klatte specialises in orthopaedics and trauma surgery. His main areas of expertise include shoulder surgery (surgical procedures to treat joint damage and instability) and special trauma surgery, which focuses on the management of severe fractures and complex physical injuries.
What they are known for
Born in Berlin, Dr Klatte studied medicine at the universities of Leipzig and Hamburg from 2002 to 2008. He received his medical license in 2008 and completed his doctorate in 2009 at the University of Hamburg. He undertook specialist training in orthopaedics and trauma surgery at UKE, qualifying as a specialist in 2015 and completing his habilitation in 2017. He obtained additional certification in special trauma surgery in 2017 and was appointed professor at the University of Hamburg in 2026. Since 2023, he has led the revision of the German clinical guidelines for proximal humerus fractures. Dr Klatte is an active member of professional associations including AO, AGA, DGU, DGOU, DVSE, and SICOT, serves on scientific committees, and acts as a reviewer for medical journals and academic degrees.
