Prof. Dr med. Marcus Hentrich (Prof. Dr. med. Marcus Hentrich) is Medical Director and Chief Physician of the Department of Internal Medicine III — Haematology and Oncology at Red Cross Clinic Munich, and heads its oncology centre and centre for haematological neoplasms. Patients consult him with lymphoma, leukaemia, myeloma and testicular tumours.
Where the doctor practises and what they do
Prof. Hentrich has led haematology and oncology in Munich since January 2015, and since January 2019 has also been the hospital’s medical director. His central field is malignant lymphoma, multiple myeloma (a tumour of the plasma cells in the bone marrow) and acute leukaemia — cancers of the blood and the lymphatic system. In the oncology centre he heads, a tumour board agrees each treatment plan.
His second field is testicular tumours and other urogenital cancers, which often affect younger men and respond well to correctly chosen chemotherapy. The third is cancer in people living with HIV, where treatment must be planned around the immune system and the antiviral medication already being taken. He cares for lymphoma patients at every stage, including palliative care, for which he holds a separate qualification.
What they are known for
Marcus Hentrich studied medicine in Bonn, Munich, Vienna and London. He was a resident at Medical Clinic III in Grosshadern, then senior and leading senior physician for oncology, haematology and palliative medicine at Klinikum Harlaching; his habilitation at LMU Munich dealt with chemotherapy in immunosuppressed patients. He is a specialist in internal medicine, haematology, medical oncology and palliative medicine, chairs the Munich leukaemia aid association and is deputy chairman of ADHOK, the group of hospital haematologists and oncologists. He received the German AIDS Prize in 2013, has been honoured several times by LMU Munich for bedside teaching, and in 2024 and 2025 was listed by FOCUS-Gesundheit for testicular tumours and lymphoma.
How we arrange an appointment
AlenMed arranges consultations and treatment with Prof. Hentrich for patients from abroad. You send us a request, we translate your records, blood counts, bone marrow results and images into German, agree a date at Red Cross Clinic Munich and provide a medical interpreter for the consultation and the ward. We also help with the visa, transfer and accommodation. Diagnostics and treatment are paid directly to the clinic at its own official rates.
This material is for reference only and does not replace a consultation with a doctor. Whether treatment is possible, and what it can achieve, is determined after an in-person examination.
