Where the doctor practises and what they do

Dr Müther works in Berlin, where she has been leading the Diabetes Centre for Children and Adolescents at DRK Hospital Berlin Westend since 2015. Her clinical focus lies in diabetes diagnosis and treatment in children and adolescents, including inpatient care during disease manifestation, metabolic adjustments, and acute complications. She offers diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as pen therapy, insulin pump therapy, and continuous glucose sensors, along with individual and group educational training for young patients, families, and care facilities.

In addition to outpatient consultations, Dr Müther provides support for psychological or social difficulties related to chronic illness, as well as a 24-hour diabetology emergency service. Since 2007, she has also been managing the Berlin Transition Programme at the hospital, which assists young patients during their transition to adult medical care in endocrinology treatment.

What they are known for

Dr Silvia Müther studied human medicine at the Free University of Berlin from 1990 to 1996, earning her doctorate in 2000 and medical specialist recognition in paediatrics in 2003. She holds additional qualifications in diabetology (DDG), naturopathy, and basic psychosomatic care, and possesses 18 months of official training authority in diabetology. She is an active member of professional societies including the German Diabetes Association (DDG), the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD), and the German Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine (DGKJ). Dr Müther has also received recognition on various medical recommendation lists, including Focus-Ärzteliste (2017–2020) and Tagesspiegel (2015–2020).
