He completed his post-graduate medical training at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, progressing from resident physician to senior physician and deputy department director. He is board-certified as a specialist in radiology (Facharzt für Radiologie) and has performed over 350 MRI examinations for congenital heart defects (CHD). He serves as Chairman of External Quality Assurance Hamburg for peripheral angioplasty and sits on the continuing education committee of the Hamburg Chamber of Physicians. His academic recognitions include the UKE Teacher of the Year 2008 award and poster prizes from RSNA (2002) and ESHNR (2008). He holds memberships in DRG, DeGIR, NDRG, ESR, ESHNR, ESCR, and EORTC, and consults in German and English.
