Dr Andreas Stein (Priv.-Doz. Dr. Andreas Stein) is Chief Physician of the Department of Cardiology and Internal Medicine at Medical Park St. Hubertus Clinic in Bad Wiessee. Patients consult him for coronary heart disease, angina and valve disease, and after a heart attack, stenting or heart surgery, when recovery needs to happen under a cardiologist’s eye.
Where the doctor practises and what they do
Dr Stein has headed cardiology and internal medicine in Bad Wiessee since 1 February 2025. His central subject is the assessment of the coronary arteries, the vessels that supply the heart muscle itself, and interventional treatment: procedures carried out through a thin catheter on the coronary vessels and on the heart valves, without open-heart surgery. He also implants pacemakers and defibrillators in patients whose heart rhythm is too slow or dangerously unstable.
The second part of his work is non-invasive diagnostics: exercise ECG, echocardiography, long-term monitoring and other examinations that assess the heart without entering the vessels. A separate field is cardiac rehabilitation — adjusting medication, building up measured physical activity and teaching the patient what to do after a heart attack, an intervention or an operation. That combination suits people who travel for cardiology care and stay for several weeks.
What they are known for
Andreas Stein began his medical training at the German Heart Centre in Munich. He then worked as leading senior physician of the Department of Internal Medicine II and headed the cardiac catheterisation laboratory at the Barmherzige Brüder Hospital in Munich. There he helped to build up that catheterisation laboratory and to establish the chest pain unit — the service that takes in people with suspected heart attack around the clock, where the decision has to be made within minutes. His title of Privatdozent reflects his research and teaching work.
