Prof. Dr med. Ulrich Adam leads the Department of General and Visceral Surgery at Vivantes Friedrichshain Hospital. His main areas of focus encompass pancreatic surgery, liver surgery, and gallbladder and biliary tract surgery. He performs oncological surgery for gastrointestinal malignancies, as well as robotic surgery and peritoneal metastasis surgery (surgical management of secondary cancer spread across the lining of the abdominal cavity).

Prof. Dr med. Ulrich Adam studied medicine at the University of Rostock from 1981 to 1987 and began his surgical residency at the Surgical University Hospital Rostock, obtaining his doctorate in 1989. He became a certified specialist in surgery in 1993, earned qualifications in emergency medicine and surgical intensive care, and served as senior physician in Rostock before becoming managing senior physician and leading senior physician at the Surgical University Hospital Freiburg. After completing his habilitation at Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg in 2005, he was appointed Adjunct Professor in 2009. He holds professional memberships in the German Society for Visceral Surgery (DGAV), the German Society for Surgery (DGCH), the Surgical Association for Endoscopy and Interventions (BCG), the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT), and the International Pancreas Club.
