Dr Sebastian Wirtz leads the Department of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine, and Pain Therapy at Asklepios Klinik Barmbek in Hamburg. His daily clinical work centers on four main focus areas: anaesthesiology (administration of local or general anaesthesia for surgical operations), intensive care medicine (monitoring and supporting vital organ functions in critically ill patients), emergency medicine (rapid intervention in acute life-threatening situations), and pain therapy. Patients undergoing complex surgical procedures or requiring specialised post-operative care receive comprehensive medical attention under his clinical direction.
What they are known for
Dr Wirtz holds extensive official training authorizations in Germany, including full authorization for specialist medical training in anaesthesiology lasting 60 months under both WBO 2005 and WBO 2020 regulations. Additionally, he holds training authorization for the additional qualification in intensive care medicine for 24 months, as well as 6 months within basic surgical training. He is also recognized for his scientific contributions, having published numerous research papers in the fields of emergency medicine, intensive care, and resuscitation.
