Dr med. Ralph Oberneder (Dr. med. Ralph Oberneder) is Chief Physician of Urology and a member of the clinic management at Urology Clinic Munich-Planegg near Munich. Patients consult him with tumours of the prostate, bladder and kidney, and with an enlarged prostate, when the operation must be gentle and without a large incision.
Where the doctor practises and what they do
Dr Oberneder has been chief physician and a partner of the clinic in Planegg since 2002. Most of his operations are carried out with the da Vinci robotic system: the surgeon controls the instruments from a console, the movements are transferred more precisely than by hand, and access is through a few small incisions. This is how he performs nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy in prostate cancer, preserving the nerve bundles on which urinary continence and erectile function depend.
He also performs radical cystectomy for bladder cancer, with reconstruction of a new bladder from the patient’s own bowel in the same operation, and organ-preserving surgery for kidney tumours, where only the tumour is removed and the kidney is kept. In everyday practice he carries out transurethral procedures on bladder and prostate — operations through the urethra, without any incision in the abdomen.
What they are known for
Ralph Oberneder trained at the medical faculties of LMU Munich and the universities of Würzburg and Erlangen. Until 2002 he worked as a senior physician at the urological university clinic in Grosshadern. In 2001 he was appointed honorary professor of the University of Nanning in China, and in 2002 associate professor of the University of Oradea in Romania. In 2024 he was president of the Bavarian Association of Urologists and congress president of its meeting in Munich. He is a member of the German Society of Urology, the American and European Urological Associations, the Federation of German Urologists and the Munich urology centre UCM.
How we arrange an appointment
AlenMed arranges consultations and surgery with Dr Oberneder for patients from abroad. You send us a request, we translate your medical records, biopsy results and images into German, agree a date at Urology Clinic Munich-Planegg and provide a medical interpreter at the consultation and on the ward. We also help with the visa, the airport transfer and accommodation. Examinations and treatment are paid directly to the clinic at its own official rates.
This material is for reference only and does not replace a consultation with a doctor. Whether treatment is possible, and what it can achieve, is determined after an in-person examination.
