Prof. Dr Andrea Meurer (Univ.-Prof. Dr. Andrea Meurer) is Medical Director and Chief Physician of Orthopaedics at Medical Park St. Hubertus Clinic in Bad Wiessee, where she is also managing director. Patients come to her with worn joints and spines, with the consequences of fractures and sports injuries, and when they need to know whether an operation is really necessary.
Where the doctor practises and what they do
Prof. Meurer sees patients in Bad Wiessee, where she is responsible for orthopaedics and at the same time for the medical direction of the clinic. Her clinical work covers conditions and injuries of the musculoskeletal system on the border between orthopaedics and trauma surgery: osteoarthritis of the large joints, back pain, states after fractures and previous operations, and sports injuries of ligaments, menisci and muscles.
Patients from abroad usually come to her for an independent assessment: what the images actually show, whether a joint replacement is genuinely needed or whether conservative treatment still has something to offer, and how rehabilitation should be organised so that the result of an operation is not lost afterwards. She looks at the case as a whole, from diagnosis to the rehabilitation plan, which is why her opinion is sought in orthopaedics and before joint replacement.
What they are known for
Until 2022 Andrea Meurer was Medical Director and managing director of the Orthopaedic Clinic of Frankfurt University Hospital. She founded the German Initiative for Osteoarthritis Research (DIA), chaired the association of orthopaedic and trauma surgeons of southern Germany (VSOU), and in 2017 was President of the German Society for Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Surgery (DGOOC), of which she remains a senator. She sits on the editorial boards and advisory boards of a number of specialist journals, which means she takes part in judging what counts as proven in orthopaedics.
How we arrange an appointment
AlenMed arranges appointments with Prof. Meurer for patients from other countries. You send us a request, we translate your medical records, scans and earlier operation reports into German, agree a consultation date at Medical Park St. Hubertus Clinic and provide a medical interpreter for the whole of your stay. We also help with the visa, the airport transfer and accommodation. Examinations and treatment are paid directly to the clinic at its own official rates.
This material is for reference only and does not replace a consultation with a doctor. Whether treatment is possible, and what it can achieve, is determined after an in-person examination.
