Prof. Dr med. André L. Mihaljevic (Prof. Dr. med. André L. Mihaljevic) is Medical Director of the University Department of General, Visceral and Transplant Surgery at Tuebingen University Hospital. Patients consult him about tumours of the abdominal organs, when the question is whether an operation is possible and which approach it should take.
Where the doctor practises and what they do
Prof. Mihaljevic heads the university department of general, visceral and transplant surgery in Tuebingen. His main field is surgical oncology: the removal of tumours of the digestive organs together with the surrounding lymph nodes, often combined with drug treatment. What belongs to cancer treatment in Germany is described on a separate page.
His second field is robotic and minimally invasive surgery, in which the operation is carried out through a few small ports while the surgeon guides the instruments of the robot and sees a magnified image on the screen. He also works in transplant surgery, general visceral surgery, proctology and emergency surgery.
